story behind:

I've learned a lot of things from my Oma. One being how to make the best pound cake known to man. You’ll never taste anything like it. From her top secret German recipe. The secret? Butter. Butter. And more butter.
I’ve spent months trying to find her recipe to recreate that amazing pound cake. And I finally did one day. In the weirdest way possible. But that’s another story for another time. Of course she put her own spin on her recipe. But I knew one thing that was certain. The butter. And I knew it was a lot.
Strudel & Spice brings me back to my Oma’s kitchen. Watching her bake her famous pound cake for her prized possessions… her family (boy mostly me). The notes of brown sugar butter and spices engulf this scent just like my Oma’s kitchen.
Aside from the pound cake, Strudel & Spice reminds me of all the German sweets we would eat gathered around my Oma and Opa’s big dining room table, adults playing cards, kids sneaking desserts, one too many. My opa asking me to show me my sweet tooth and me pointing to them all and saying all my teeth are sweet teeth!
I miss my Oma and Opa. More than words can describe. But Strudel & Spice brings me back to those moments I don’t want to forget. With them by my side.
